HEALTH AND SAFETY GRANTS FOR FAMILY, GROUP FAMILY AND LEGALLY EXEMPT CHILD CARE PROVIDERS...

The Health and Safety/Start-Up Grant Program administered by the Resource Network can be one of the building blocks of a successful family child care business! 

Through a grant from the Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS),  the Resource Network is able to offer Health and Safety grants to new and existing family, group family and legally exempt child care providers.  The Health and Safety Grant Program is designed to assist legally exempt, family and group family providers in setting up their businesses and ensuring a safe, inviting and healthy environment for the children enrolled.  Many of the eligible items are provided free of charge.Requirements for participation have changed.

What are the Requirements for a Health and Safety Grant?

In order to qualify for a health and safety grant the prospective or existing child care provider must:

  • Complete an Application and a Needs Assessment Form;
  • Provide a copy of a current child care license/registration or proof of legally exempt provider status;
  • List household size and provide the adjusted gross household income verified by the most recent federal income tax return;
  • Sign a letter of agreement and abide by all terms and conditions.

Depending on the results of the Needs Assessment completed by the child care provider and the Resource Network's Grant Administrator, the following items are available:

  • CPR/First Aid Training
  • Smoke Detectors
  • Fire Extinguishers
  • First Aid Kits
  • Electric Outlet Covers
  • Safety Locks
  • Carbon Monoxide Detectors
  • Cribs
  • Cots
  • Mats
  • Strollers
  • High Chairs
  • Changing Tables
  • Other items determined by necessity
