Through Child Care Resource Network’s Health Care Consultancy Services, our experienced staff will answer your questions about health or health care related issues in all of the types of child care settings, or about program staff and children’s health in general. Our health care project coordinator is available to meet with you at our offices, or may schedule an appointment at your location for educational assistance or a site visit. A site visit is a requirement of The Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) during your licensing period.

Another part of regulation in child care settings has to do with the “Health Care Plan”. Initially, you are made aware of the health care plan in the Health and Safety course. Our heath care project coordinator is here to assist you in the development of your health care plan, or review a plan you have filled out using the template provided by the Office of Children and Family Services. Forms supplied from the Office of Children and Family Services for child care programs are available online. We encourage you to visit this site to find all the OCFS forms currently in use. The health care plan template is very user friendly and can be updated on-line.

As a child care provider you are required to have a health care plan. If you have children in care who require medication administration, your health care plan must contain additional sections, and you must complete specific training. You are then certified to administer medications to children in your care, and are referred to as a medical administrant or MAT (medication administration training) provider.

MAT providers or administrants are required to have a Health Care Consultant (HCC) review their MAT health care plan, and oversee the safety of medication administration in your program. Our agency can provide this service for you as well. New York State Office of Children and Family Services also maintains a list of other MAT trainers in the state and in our community.

Child Care Resource Network has an ongoing program of professional development for all member and non-member providers. You may consider becoming a member of Child Care Resource Network, and explore the benefits that membership provides.
