According to New York State Office of Children and Family Services, Group Family Child Care is:
A residence in which child day care is provided on a regular basis for more than 3 hours per day per child for 7 to 12 children, however, as of 12/16/2010, providers may now care for up to 12 children of all ages, with up to 4 additional school-age children, who may be in care for a maximum capacity of 16 children Such home must be operated by a provider and have at least 1 assistant present during the hours that care is provided. There must be 1 caregiver for every 2 children under the age of 2 years.
